We are currently seeking a Lead Geotechnical Engineer (E4 or equivalent) to join our Fraser Valley (Abbotsford) team. This is a key technical and leadership role with opportunities to shape project delivery, strengthen client relationships, and mentor the next generation of engineers and technicians.

  • Lead geotechnical engineering projects in Abbotsford, working closely with the Kontur's Senior Reviewer's, Principals, Project Managers, and Project Engineers.
  • Support Kontur's Senior Leadership and Management team to grow Kontur's presence in the Fraser Valley and beyond.
  • Prepare proposals, scopes of work, budgets, and coordinate field and technical staff.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and coordinate project staff.
  • Act as the Geotechnical Engineer-of-record, manage and provide technical leadership and support on projects including:
    • First Nations infrastructure and housing
    • Municipal infrastructure and emergency response
    • Land development and commercial/industrial projects
  • Complete, check, review, and lead geotechnical analyses to support slope stability assessment, seismic assessment, foundation design, retaining structure design, shoring design, dike upgrade design and pavement design.
  • Complete, check, review, and lead Project Engineering Staff in field reviews and construction monitoring across varied project types.
  • Develop practical, sound geotechnical recommendations and prepare detailed engineering reports and designs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical, Geological, or Civil Engineering.  Preference given to individuals with a post-graduate degree in Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 10 to 15 years of geotechnical engineering experience.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Engineers and Geoscientists BC.
  • Strong technical knowledge in geotechnical analysis and design (seismic, soil and slope stability, foundations, retaining walls, shoring, dikes and pavements).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with colleagues, clients, and partners.
  • Proven organizational and time‑management abilities in a fast‑paced consulting environment.
  • 5 to 10 years of local experience in residential, commercial, municipal, or industrial sectors.
  • Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license and regular access to a reliable vehicle (vehicle and mileage allowance provided).
  • Willingness to work extended/irregular hours as necessary.
  • Proficiency with productivity software and geotechnical engineering software (e.g., Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, gINT, RocScience, Shake2000, Plaxis, etc.).
