The Arbutus Greenway and West 41st Avenue Intersection Improvements

May 4, 2026

Located in the Kerrisdale neighbourhood of Vancouver, this project represents a major urban infrastructure upgrade within one of the City of Vancouver's most heavily used active transportation corridors. The works support the City's long term mobility, safety, and public realm objectives along the 8.5-kilometer, long Arbutus Greenway corridor.

Kontur Geotechnical Consultants Inc. supported the project from detailed design through construction, providing geotechnical assessment, pavement evaluation, design recommendations. During construction, Kontur is providing geotechnical construction-phase field review, including preparation and implementation of project specific quality control documentation in coordination with the construction contractor, All Roads Construction, as well as quality control services by its Materials Testing division.

The project involves full reconstruction and realignment of a complex, multi modal intersection, integrating roadway, cycling, pedestrian, and transit infrastructure within a dense urban setting. As a key intersection on Vancouver's primary north-south greenway, the improvements will enable safe and comfortable travel between False Creek and the Fraser River for all ages and abilities.

Construction is being completed under live traffic and active trolley bus operations and includes underground utilities, pavement reconstruction, upgraded drainage systems, and greenway pathway realignment.

Works are ongoing with completion in the Fall of 2026.

Kontur's involvement contributes to safe, constructible, and resilient project outcomes.

The project is being delivered with ISL Engineering and Land Services Ltd. acting as Prime Consultant.
